The Parent/ Teacher Association

The Parent/ Teacher Association (PTA) at St Columba’s is a very important and active part of school life. All parents are eligible for election to the PTA and are elected for a term of two years. There is one teacher nominee to the PTA and five parent nominees on the committee. All parents are encouraged to participate and to assist with PTA events.

Among the activities carried out by PTA are the annual Hallowe’en sponsored walk, Sports day and talks for parents. In addition, the PTA assists the Board of Management and staff when drawing up school policies.

The PTA is not intended to serve as a fund raising body for the school although this can for part of its role. More importantly, it is intended to enhance the link between school and parents by creating opportunities for parents to participate in the life of the school.
