Christmas at St. Columba's NS
Our Christmas service was a great success and truly showcased the many talents of our pupils. On the Tuesday, classes linked up to create the Christingles and there was a lovely sense of teamwork and community throughout the school. It was magical having them lit on the day. I would like to thank Reverend Garth Bunting who really held the room during ‘quiz time’ too! The teachers and children worked diligently in preparing their carols and it really showed on Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out on the day. Having our whole school community present made it all the more special. Overall, it was a fantastic day for our school - Santa was certainly impressed!
Over the past week we have enjoyed Christmas movies and hot chocolate in classrooms, gingerbread house making and Ms Clinch’s class posting their letters to Santa. We were also very lucky to have a parent, Nicky Coughlan from RTE Radio, visit the school. Children from Ms Walkin’s class were interviewed and asked to discuss their knowledge and experiences of Christmas. The segment will be broadcast in full on Christmas Eve on RTE Radio 1 between 2.30pm and 4pm. At assembly today we also held our Christmas Lotto draw, so congratulations to all the winners.
