FAI 5 a side.
Today our school competed in the Dublin finals of the FAI 5 a side tournament. This was a first for St. Columba's and there was great excitement! Classes made banners and posters of support, there were pom poms bought (thank you Ms Gordon!) and even face paint.
Our girls performed superbly. They drew their first game 1-1 with Hedgestown NS. Our next game was a cracker with St. Patricks NS in which we prevailed 1-0! We then went up against a formidable St. Annes NS side who won a closely fought game 2-1. This left us in a playoff game against Hedgestown NS. In a tight encounter it finished a a 0-0 draw and unfortunately we lost on penalties.
As you can see from the video footage we had our St. Columba's ultras out supporting! It was wonderful to see our pupils from 3rd/4th and 5th/6th class down to cheer the girls on. On our way back to the school the team got slightly disorientated and somehow...ended up in Scrumdiddly's for post match ice cream - it was certainly well deserved!
