Literacy Week

6th Mar 2026
This week we celebrated Literacy Week with a range of fun and engaging activities to promote a love of reading and writing. Throughout the week, pupils took part in shared reading, creative writing, and storytelling activities in their classrooms.
A highlight of the week was buddy reading where classes partnered up and got the older pupils had a chance to read to the younger children and vice versa.
Thursday 6th March was World Book Day, when students and staff came to school dressed as their favourite characters from books. All classes visited Charleville Mall Library and the junior/senior infants and 1st/2nd class got to have story time with librarian Clair.
Finally we had a great turnout of parents and guardians who dropped in to read poetry and stories to the classes.
It was a great success and helped encourage a love of books and reading across the whole school. A huge thank you to Ms. Walkin for organising it all.
