Litter Picking Fun

The members of the Green School’s Committee at St. Columba’s N.S have been working very hard to make our school yard a cleaner place. We have been taking part in a litter picking campaign which has been very successful so far. We are learning that simple actions can have a big impact on the environment and our school yard is looking great!

Compost Crazy!

Here at St. Columba’s N.S we have been collecting fruit and vegetable waste and donating it to the Mud Island Community Gardens. Every week members of our Green School’s committee have been delivering our compost waste to the composting facilities in the gardens. This involves breaking apart some of the waste with our hands and adding it to the compost heap. We then use a shovel to mix the old and new waste together. The volunteers from the gardens are always on hand to help and we have learned lots about composting from them.
